A great review of Bangkok's temples. The Emerald Buddha, 46 meter gold plated reclining Buddha, 90 meters tall Wat Arun and the Golden Mount.
The Palace is made up of many buildings set around many gardens and courtyards. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) is carved from just one piece of Jade; it is the holiest and most revered religious object in Thailand.
You will then visit the Wat Po nearby which houses the reclining Buddah. The gold plated reclining Buddha is 46 meters long and 15 meters high, and is designed to illustrate the passing of the Buddha into nirvana. The feet and the eyes are engraved with mother-of-pearl decoration. The grounds of the Wat Po contain more than 1000 Buddha images in total, most from the ruins of the former capitals Ayuthaya and Sukhothai.
You will then visit the Wat Arun on the opposite side of the Chao Prayah river. It is an impressive structure, (90 metres high), you can also walk up the very steep steps although not all the way to the top.
The tour price includes a guide, lunch, transport and admission fees.
Please be aware of the dress code when visiting Thailand temples. Please dress appropriately, ladies should cover their shoulders and shorts should reach the knee. If necessary you may borrow suitable attire at the entrance of the Palace.
